From fecal transplantation to Wood Wide Web, this week’s readings were quite interesting.
Growing up my aunt always told me that not all bacterias are bad. She explained to me that this is why pets can be very beneficial for a family. It will be interesting to read about the future developments of microbial world. I am curious how Mr. Knight from Colorado exactly swabbed his wife’s vagina and covered his newborn’s skin with it. Do they just give it vagina bath? He seems to know what he is doing.
The mushroom articles reminded me of Hayao Miyazaki’s films like Princess Mononoke and Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind. He shows nature and its forests as important ecosystems that affect human life. I feel like mushroom conversing with everything around them might be just a completely unknown concept to us. There is probably a lot of similar communication deep in the sea as well.
